Our 2023 AAHSFF Scholarship Fund, designed to make the festival experience accessible to students who have demonstrated a commitment to visual storytelling, but who cannot afford to attend. On average each year, and increasingly, we are finding the need to provide $40,000 in support to students who lack the necessary resources to make the festival experience a reality.
Supporting a filmmaker through the scholarship fund provides: An All-Access Pass, Airfare, Lodging, and Meals for a 3-day NYC adventure.

Teen Indie Awards Show: The annual Teen Indie Awards Show celebrates the creativity, passion and talent of the best student artists from around the world. For our community, this is the biggest night of their artistic journey: a grand stage for their artistic exploration, development and accomplishments. The formal evening, hosted at the magnificent Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY features a 40’ Red Carpet, live musical performances, special celebrity guests and the awarding of over $600,000 in prizes and scholarships.
Traveling Roadshow: The AAHSFF Traveling Roadshow presentation immerses attendees in the best of student filmmaking from around the world. Throughout the interactive presentation, we screen exemplary student films representing a wide variety of genres and styles, and then deconstruct the tools and techniques that make them successful. Participating students will be empowered by peer-created content while learning valuable skills to elevate their craft so that they can succeed at the highest level.
The Future of Film Podcast: The future of film is now and a new generation of talent is emerging with an unprecedented understanding of the medium, unparalleled opportunities for exposure, and an unrelenting passion to share their stories. The podcast features intimate and engaging interviews that peel back the curtain of the best emerging filmmakers from around the world. If you love film and want a behind the scenes glimpse at how future legends of cinema hone their craft, you've got to hear this!
Film Invitational Competitions: Throughout the year, we offer both on-site competitions in NYC as well as remote competitions. The competitions provide authentic, real-world production experiences for student filmmakers and video production programs. We believe that the best classroom is a film set, and our Film Invitational Competitions provide participants with an unparalleled chance to productively collaborate, improve their craft and test their skills and creativity while competing against student teams from around the world.
Video Production Resource Community Curriculum: We feel one of the best tools a teacher can have is relevant, peer-created content, so our entire curriculum is based on exemplary student films from our library of over 15,000 student films. Each of our 50 + lessons provides 2-4 days of interactive, engaging instructional activities focused on inspiring your students to elevate their craft to the highest level.
Webinars and Resources: A wide variety of free webinars presented on hyper-relevant topics and presented by industry professionals and university professors as well as additional resources related to the tools necessary for a complete production experience.
Promoting social impact storytelling through custom competitions and categories.
Prioritizing immersive educational opportunities for emerging student filmmakers regardless of their socio-economic status including access to video production curriculum and free resources.
Ensuring an even playing field for video production programs by offering free access to interactive presentations, mentorship and our “movie-in-a-backpack” production kits, curriculum and relevant resources.
Empowering student filmmakers with production grants and one on one mentorship from industry professionals dedicated to elevating the next generation of artists.
